Warranty Service Tech Lead is responsible for leading a team of technicians repairing & servicing (Cosmetic / Structural / Mechanical / Electrical) all types of wreckers and carrier equipment. Activities include leading a team of technicians to build products by working alongside and directing work, mentoring, trouble-shooting, and communicating with others.  This requires an understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical functions, winches and crane loads, assembly of products, chassis installation, the dress out process and quality.

Responsible for repairing & servicing (Cosmetic / Structural / Mechanical / Electrical) all types of wreckers and carrier equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Motivates workers to achieve work goals and release only well-built, high-quality products.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Teaches new operators to safely use equipment.
  • Verifies functionality of systems and performs final inspection before unit leaves the repair and service department.
  • Interprets specifications, drawings, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Works with Supervisor to coordinate activities of the repair and service department.
  • Coordinates with project managers to keep projects on track.
  • Is a communication go-between for workers and project managers.
  • Repairs electrical and hydraulic operating systems.
  • Removes damaged parts and bolts or welds replacement parts in position.
  • Repairs or replaces defective mechanical parts.
  • Examines vehicle and discusses with supervisor nature and extent of damage or malfunction.
  • Plans work procedure.
  • Disassembles unit and inspects parts for wear.
  • Repairs or replaces parts such as cylinders, valves, hoses, fittings, and bearings.
  • Assist with part tracking and receiving to assure correct parts are supplied to the correct person or unit.
  • Assist with post service inspection to assure quality and completion of repair or service work.

Lead Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include Instruction of personnel in operation of equipment and or small repairs, installations of equipment onto trucks, training employees; planning, assigning, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 2-4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to travel and stay overnight occasionally (1-2 days).
  • Must have the following knowledge, skills and abilities…
  • Hydraulic Knowledge
  • 12 Volt Electrical Knowledge
  • Fabrication Skills Preferred
  • Good Communication Skills
  • A Class B CDL preferred or must be willing to obtain.
