Miller Industries is seeking to fill the position of Environmental Technician to oversee and maintain compliance of the solvent recycling process at our Ooltewah, TN facility.


The main aspect of this process is operating two solvent reclamation units.  In addition to the operation of these units and organization of the larger process, the Environmental Technician will be responsible for coordinating with the Paint and Purchasing departments on solvent supply/demand, scheduling pickups with vendors, documenting the required environmental inspections of our facility, etc. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties bay be assigned):

  • Operate a new solvent reclamation process on-site
  • Coordinate waste pickups with external contractors
  • Coordinate solvent supply/demand with Paint Department
  • Perform facility environmental inspections
  • Maintain records and monitor hazardous waste generation rates
  • Attend regular environmental training courses, either in-person or online
  • Assist shop floor and Maintenance with responding to minor spills on-site
  • Other duties as needed


Necessary skills:

  • Organization/recordkeeping/attention to detail
  • Forklift license
  • Obtain DOT HazMat, RCRA, and OSHA HAZWOPER training and certification
  • Basic navigation of Microsoft Office, including Excel


Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or three to five years of relative and verifiable experience and/or training; or equivalent 2-4 years education; or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred: Associates degree in an Engineering discipline, Business Administration, Industrial Management, or a related field, or 60 credit hours coursework completed towards one of these programs, plus one to four years related experience, or equivalent combination of job relevant certifications, education, and experience.
