Help Desk Technician Requirements

The candidate will be required to work in a challenging, but rewarding position helping Miller Industries staff with day-to-day problems and operations. This position will allow you to build and use your skills in communication and information technology to support our staff around the world. Each case is unique and presents its own set of challenges and rewards.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Miller Industries helpdesk team in:
  • Responding to queries and tickets on the phone, via MS Teams, email, in person, or through remote access
  • Gaining feedback from staff to improve training methods
  • Writing and editing training manuals
  • User account creation
  • Application troubleshooting
  • Printer troubleshooting
  • Deployment and maintenance of workstation, PC, Mac, iPhone/iPad, and Surface devices
  • Assist staff with training on new hardware and applications
  • Offering technical assistance on the delivery, configuration, set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Provide emergency support after business hours, holiday and weekends as needed
  • Other duties as required


Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, or three (3) years of experience in their current position
  • A strong working knowledge of computer systems, hardware, and software
  • Good problem-solving, analytical, and team-working skills
  • An openness to learning new technologies
  • Basic Microsoft Active Directory skills
  • Basic Office 365 skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-Motivated

Nice to have Skills & Experience

  • Linux/UNIX experience
  • Bash/Powershell scripting
  • Apple MacOS experience
  • An understanding of Windows NTFS & File Share permissions
  • Basic routing, switching, and VPN experience
  • Knowledge of relevant specialty software, (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Final Cut, AutoCAD, PTC Creo, SolidWorks) a plus but not required
  • Self-organization skills
  • Ability to speak & understand fluent French including IT and technical terminology a major plus
