Miller Industries is seeking a Dress-Out Supervisor to work in our Ooltewah, TN Manufacturing Facility within the Large Wrecker Business Unit.
Supervises activities of workers engaged in accessories, electrical, and lighting installation by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Verifies functionality of systems and performs final production inspection before unit is sent for pre-delivery inspection (PDI).
- Requisitions materials required to meet production goals.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
- Interprets specifications, drawings, and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work station.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintains time and production records.
- Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Performs activities of employees supervised and works same scheduled hours as department.
Directly supervises 60 to 80 employees in the Dress-Out Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A 2-year Associates Degree in a relevant field of study is strongly preferred. Must have strong, proven management skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of management – effectively and timely.
A minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training in Large Wrecker Dress-Out is strongly preferred. Must be proficient with common hand tools, measuring instruments and all other tools that are present within the department.
It is preferred that the candidate be proficient in LN; Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word. Additional computer skills will be required for this position – including Kronos, Performance Management, Job Requisition Requests, Personnel Change Requests and more.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of LN software and Microsoft Office.
